Tianjin Quanjin manager Fabio Cannavaro has revealed he is interested in bringing Romelu Lukaku to the Chinese Super League but Everton are not willing to do business.
Lukaku, 23, is regarded as one of the brightest young strikers in Europe and has already been linked with a big money move back to Chelsea, although clubs outside of the continent are also now interested in his services.
Cannavaro’s side wanted to sign a high profile striker before the transfer deadline for Chinese Super League sides shut on Tuesday and the former Real Madrid defender has revealed Lukaku is one of their targets.
“It is possible to speak with Lukaku,” The Daily Mirror quote Cannavaro as saying. “The problem is Everton, who don’t want to let him go. The fact that he is only 23 years old is not the concern.
“He could very well come to China. Look at Oscar. At 25, he left Chelsea for Shanghai SIPG.”
Lukaku was widely expected to leave Everton last summer but Ronald Koeman had no intention of losing his star striker and now the Belgium international is on the verge of extending his stay beyond 2019.
The Everton No.9 is currently level on goals with Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez on 17 goals in the Premier League this season in the race to finish as the league’s golden boot winner.
