Talks between Barcelona and Brazilian midfielder collapse

Transfer negotiations between Barcelona and the representatives of Arthur have collapsed, reports Marca.

Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for Arthur all season and Ernesto Valverde’s side were close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder.

Gremio’s general director Carlos Amodeo, club lawyer Gabriel Vieira and the agent of Arthur were hopeful of finalising terms with Barcelona this week but talks have broken down.

Negotiations have reportedly stalled to the point that Arthur’s representatives are ready to fly back to Brazil unless there is a sudden, and unexpected, breakthrough in talks.

Arthur finished last season’s Brasileirao with the best pass success rate (93.1%) in the division.
