Chelsea ace trains away from first-team amid Arsenal interest

David Luiz did not train with Chelsea’s first-team on Wednesday amid reports of a dramatic deadline day move to Arsenal, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The 32-year-old only signed a new two-year Chelsea deal in May but his relationship with the club has strained over the last week.

Luiz trained away from the rest of Chelsea’s first team on Wednesday, as Frank Lampard drills his players ahead of their Premier League opener away to Manchester United at the weekend.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is keen to reunite with Luiz this summer but the Gunners have until 5pm on Thursday to get a deal over the line.

Arsenal are yet to make a formal approach to Chelsea for Luiz but the landscape has changed dramatically in the last 24 hours.

Despite the fact Chelsea would not be able to sign a replacement for Luiz due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban, the west London outfit are reportedly open to his immediate departure.

Remarkably only Jorginho (13) completed more accurate through balls than Luiz (12) in the Premier League last season.
