Barcelona edge closer to sensational deal to re-sign Neymar

Barcelona have made their first move to re-sign Neymar by offering Paris Saint-Germain €100m and some of their players, claims Brazilian outlet Globo.

PSG are open to Neymar’s departure this summer after running out of patience with his behaviour just two years after making him the most expensive player of all-time.

The Ligue 1 champions paid £200m to prise Neymar away from Barcelona in a shock deal in 2017 but the Brazil international has been heavily linked with a return ever since.

Barcelona are now plotting Neymar’s return and have reportedly offered €100m to their French counterparts and are willing to include players like Ousmane Dembele, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti as potential makeweights.

Neymar’s potential return would almost certainly end Barcelona’s interest in Antoine Griezmann; despite Atletico’s claim the Frenchman will join their rivals next month.

Griezmann’s release clause drops to €120m at the start of next month but Barcelona will not be able to accommodate both Neymar and the Atletico striker in the same transfer window.

Should Barcelona sign Neymar then Griezmann will most likely end up going to PSG, who have also been heavily linked with a move for the 28-year-old.

Despite featuring in less than half of PSG’s league matches over the last two years, only three players have played a direct hand in more Ligue 1 goals than Neymar in that time (54).
