Southampton are weighing up a January move for Barcelona outcast Paco Alcacer to solve their shortcoming in front of goal, reports The Daily Mail.
Barcelona shelled out £27m to sign Alcacer from Valencia in 2016 but the Spain international has endured a tortuous time at the Camp Nou.
The 24-year-old has struggled to make any impression at Barcelona since his arrival and now Southampton head coach Mauricio Pellegrino is interested in handing him a way out in January.
Southampton have only managed to score five goals in seven Premier League matches this season and their shortcomings in front of goal are hindering any progress under Pellegrino.
Manolo Gabbiadini has gone completely off the boil after making a brilliant start to life at Southampton at the turn of the year and now Pellegrino wants to dip into the transfer market for a new striker.
Alcacer has only scored eight goals in 30 appearances for Barcelona since joining from Valencia.
