Henderson in frame to replace De Gea at Manchester United next term
Manchester United are keeping their options open about next season's No.1 with Dean Henderson in the frame to usurp David de Gea in the pecking order, reports The Daily Mail.
De Gea has been a shadow of his former self for the best part of 12 months now and is no longer considered one of the best goalkeeper's in the world.
The Spain international has even lost his place as his country's No.1 and could soon find himself under pressure at Old Trafford.
While De Gea's form has caused concern, Henderson has flourished during his second loan stint at Sheffield United.
Blades manager Chris Wilder has already confirmed the club have started working on extending Henderson's stay for a third season but he could be required at Old Trafford next term.
United are expected to make their decision about next season's No.1 in April, though the fact De Gea signed a blockbuster deal in September to become one of the division's best-paid players will likely work against Henderson.
Of goalkeepers that have made at least five Premier League appearances this season, Henderson has the best save success rate (77.2%).
