Chelsea shift focus in pursuit of new left-back

Chelsea could turn their attention away from Ben Chilwell and instead focus their efforts on landing Layvin Kurzawa, reports The Daily Express.

The Blues are pushing to sign a new left-back this summer with Frank Lampard prepared to cash in on Marcos Alonso and Emerson.

The pair have been linked with respective returns to Spain and Italy and Lampard is eager to strengthen in defence having already confirmed the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to improve in attack.

Chilwell, who scored in Leicester's 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday, was believed to be Lampard's number one left-back target.

However, the Foxes value the England international at around £80m, which could see the Blues shift their attention elsewhere.

Indeed, Kurzawa has now emerged a possible target for the west London side with the Frenchman's contract expiring this summer.

The left-back has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Barcelona, but the pair may now face competition from Chelsea for the 27-year-old.

Kurzawa has struggled for regular game time in the French capital this season, making only nine league starts before the campaign was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
