Out of contract Manchester City star to agree short-term extension
Manchester City are confident that David Silva will agree a short contract extension with the club, reports ESPN.
Silva's current deal with the defending Premier League champions expires next month and the Spaniard has already confirmed that he will be leaving this summer.
However, the Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent delay to the league season had confused things at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva is one of 57 Premier League players whose contract is up at the end of June and the delay to the season has muddled matters for Premier League clubs.
The 34-year-old had held talks about a return to former side Valencia, while Italian outfit AC Milan have also been credited with an interest in the experienced playmaker.
FIFA guidelines state that contracts due to expire next month should be extended until the end of the domestic season, but this must be ratified by both player and club.
Silva still has a shot at landing the Champions League with City holding a one-goal advantage over Real Madrid following their 2-1 first leg win at the Bernabeu.
