Sergio Aguero ready to fight for Manchester City future, says agent

The agent of Sergio Aguero insists the striker is not ready to quit Manchester City and will fight for his future at the club under Pep Guardiola.

Aguero, 28, was dropped to the bench in their 4-0 win over West Ham on Wednesday night as Guardiola instead gave 19-year-old Gabriel Jesus his first start in the Premier League following his January arrival.

Jesus, a £27m signing from Brazilian champions Palmeiras, has impressed in his three appearances for the club and Guardiola has already confirmed the Brazil international is the future of the club along with the other young forwards at the club.

Aguero’s long-term future at the club was already in doubt before Jesus’ introduction in the team after Guardiola made the controversial decision to drop the Argentina international for their Champions League group stage clash with Barcelona.

Guardiola has already told reporters he expects more from Aguero on a number of occasions this season, while Jesus only appeared to embody everything the City manager wants from his starting frontman.

Aguero would not be short of suitors should he become available for sale at the end of the season but his agent, Hernan Reguera, insists the City No.10 is still happy at the club.

“Yes, he is very, very happy – he will be there next season,” Reguera told The Guardian.
