West Ham interested in Werder Bremen ace

West Ham have expressed an interest in Werder Bremen forward Max Kruse as Slaven Bilic continues the club’s search for a new striker, reports Sky Sports.

The Hammers have made signing a new striker a priority this summer after growing tired of Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho’s inability to remain fit for prolonged periods.

West Ham have already been linked with moves for Manchester City outcast Kelechi Iheanacho and Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, but Bilic’s men are now weighing up a move for Kruse.

The Bremen striker enjoyed a fine maiden campaign for Alexander Nouri’s side last season and has been told he is free to leave if their €12m (£10.4m) valuation is met by another side this summer.

Kruse finished last season in tremendous form after playing a direct hand in 15 goals (9 goals, six assists) in his last nine appearances of the season including a four-goal haul against Ingolstadt in April.

In fact, only Robert Lewandowski (21) scored or assisted more Bundesliga goals in 2017 than Kruse (20).
