Watford set to reward Gracia with new deal

Watford are keen to reward Javi Gracia with a new long-term deal following their breathtaking start to the new season, claims The Daily Mail.

Gracia’s current deal is due to expire at the end of this season and the Hornets fear bigger clubs will look to prise the Spaniard away from the club.

Watford made a similarly excellent start to last season under Marco Silva before interest from Everton derailed their campaign.

Silva was sacked in January and replaced by Gracia, who endured a difficult first four months in the Premier League.

Only four Premier League clubs took fewer points than Watford under Gracia last season (15) leading to suggestions he could be replaced in the summer.

However, Watford have made their best start to a top-flight campaign since the 1988-89 season, winning their opening four matches.

In fact, a win over Manchester United after the international break would equal Watford’s point haul from 14 matches under Gracia last season.
