Liverpool would need to smash club-record transfer to sign midfielder

Liverpool have been informed that they would have to pay upwards of £50m to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, reports the Times.

The Reds were in the market to sign Keita last summer, only for the Guinea international to instead move to the Bundesliga outfit.

He was in fine form for RB Leipzig this term, with his WhoScored rating (7.60) enough to earn a spot in the Bundesliga team of the season as they secured a second placed finish in their debut campaign in Germany’s top tier.

Keita’s form has not gone unnoticed either as a host of top teams track the young midfielder.

Liverpool are in the market for a player of the 22-year-old’s ilk, but have ben dealt a blow in their pursuit of Keita.

The Reds would have to break their club-record transfer fee to sign the RB Leipzig star this summer, with the club insisting one of their prized assets is not for sale.

With eight goals and seven assists to his name, not to mention 83 dribbles, Keita is widely considered one of the hottest midfield prospects in Europe.
