Stoke move ahead with £12m move for Manchester City outcast
Stoke are ready to make their first significant signing of the summer after making a £12m offer for Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Delph has been told he is free to leave City this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements by City head coach Pep Guardiola.
Despite failing to make an impression in his two years as a City player, Guardiola’s side recognise his ability and are actually trying to make a profit on their £8m investment.
Mark Hughes has only managed to land Darren Fletcher and Josh Tymon on free transfers this summer but the Stoke manager is now looking to deal West Brom another blow by beating the Baggies to Delph’s signature.
In the last two league campaigns Delph has only managed to take part in 31.6% of City’s matches after establishing himself as one of England’s best midfielders at Aston Villa.
