Manchester United are set to battle Bayern Munich and Barcelona for Fiorentina wideman Federico Bernardeschi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia.
Bernardeschi, 22, scored the equaliser against Tottenham in the Europa League last week and has reportedly already been scouted by Bayern and Barcelona.
However, United have already moved to beat them to the Italy Under-21 international after lodging a €28m (£22m) bid in recent days, although Fiorentina are reportedly not willing to sell for anything less than €40m (£31.6m).
Louis van Gaal’s side could face competition from Chelsea if Antonio Conte is named Guus Hiddink’s successor at the end of the season, which would also suggest why United are keen on wrapping up a deal before the end of the season.
Since the start of the season, Bernardeschi has completed at least 15 more dribbles than any other Fiorentina player in Serie A (52).
