Kane injury could keep him out for rest of the season

Harry Kane could miss the remainder of the Premier League season amid fears that he has suffered a recurrence of the ankle injury sustained earlier in the season against Sunderland, The Guardian reports.

The Tottenham striker and top scorer in the Premier League this season was withdrawn early on in Spurs’ FA Cup victory over Millwall, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side going on to win 6-0.

While the result and performance will have offered great encouragement to the manager, as his side booked another date at Wembley by reaching the semi-finals, the news that Kane is set for a spell on the sidelines is a massive blow.

The 23-year old is sure to miss out on international duty with England later this month, with Pochettino confirming, “It looks a similar situation to Sunderland. It was a similar action.”

Kane left the ground in a protective boot and the Spurs boss added,“Harry was in the boot afterwards because in a situation like this, the doctor is cautious. Before a scan, the doctor tries to immobilise the joint, with a boot and crutches – to try to avoid any [further] problems.”

Kane has already missed five league games this season due to the ankle injury he sustained last year and since the start of the 2014/15 season Tottenham have won just 1.5 points per game in the league without Kane in the starting XI compared to 1.9 when he has started.
