Real Madrid have free run to sign French teenage wonderkid

Real Madrid have a clear run at signing Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga this summer, claims Marca.

Camavinga has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in European football this season after making his first-team debut for Rennes at the age of 16.

The teen burst onto the scene in just his second league match with an assist in a 2-1 win at home to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Nearly every top team in Europe has been tracking Camavinga since then but one by one they have dropped out of the race to leave Madrid with a free run at signing him this summer.

For Madrid, their interest in Camavinga dates back to before he was even in Rennes' first-team, as they have been tracking the midfielder since he was 15.

The Spanish giants delayed their pursuit on purpose to allow Camavinga to develop and mature at Rennes but now Zinedine Zidane's side are ready to land the £60m-rated prospect.

Rennes were initially against the idea of cashing in on Camavinga this summer but the outbreak of COVID-19 has hit the club hard financially and they accept they now have to sell their star asset.

Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have pulled out of the race for the now 17-year-old and a move to Madrid seems to be drawing closer.

Remarkably, only Ricardo Pereira (4.3) averages more tackles per game than Camavinga (4.2) in Europe's top five leagues this season.
