Borussia Dortmund hold talks for Liverpool striker

Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Liverpool to sign out-of-favour striker Divock Origi, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Origi has two years left to run on his existing Liverpool deal but has no future at Anfield after dropping down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.

The Belgium international spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg but flattered to deceive for the Bundesliga outfit.

Origi failed to make the most of pre-season and now Liverpool are prepared to offload the 23-year-old.

Despite underperforming for Wolfsburg, Dortmund are interested in handing Origi with a route back to Germany but any loan deal will have to include an obligation to make the switch permanent.

Liverpool value Origi at £28m but it remains to be seen whether Dortmund would be willing to shell out that much.

Dortmund sold Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal in January and still haven’t sufficiently replaced the Gabon international after Michy Batshuayi’s loan spell ended at the end of last season.

Origi scored six goals in 31 league appearances for Wolfsburg last season and garnered a less-than-impressive WhoScored rating of 6.61 in that time.

Furthermore, of Wolfsburg players that made more than 10 Bundesliga starts last season, only Felix Uduokhai (6.50) gained a lower WhoScored rating than Origi.
