Bayern Munich on brink of landing Barcelona target

Bayern Munich have agreed personal terms with Ajax defender Sergino Dest, claims Sky Germany.

Dest has emerged as a sought after right-back for the likes of Bayern, Barcelona and Manchester City this summer.

Barcelona first need to shift players before they can sign anyone else and City are looking at signing a centre-back first before pursuing Dest.

With Thiago on the brink of joining Liverpool in a deal worth £27m, Bayern have made their move for Ajax's United States international.

Hansi Flick wants back-up to Benjamin Pavard at right-back now Joshua Kimmich is considered an out-and-out central midfielder.

Bayern have agreed a five-year deal with Dest and are now working on agreeing a fee with Ajax.

The Bundesliga giants lodged an opening offer of €10m (£9.2m) for Dest, well short of Ajax's €30m (£27.5m) valuation, though talks are progressing over a compromise.

The 19-year-old made 20 league appearances for Ajax last season, with 15 of those coming as starts.

Dest, who turned down the chance to represent the Netherlands in favour of the United States, registered four assists in his maiden campaign for Ajax.
