Fekir’s move to Liverpool is not dead, says agent

The agent of Nabil Fekir has sensationally revealed a proposed move to Liverpool is not completely dead and buried.

Jurgen Klopp wants to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho this summer and has identified Fekir as a top transfer target.

Liverpool agreed a deal with Lyon before reportedly trying to re-negotiate a lower fee in the wake of Fekir’s medical results.

Fekir has encountered knee problems in the past and his medical results reportedly came back unsatisfactory.

Lyon sensationally announced negotiations were over and Fekir would stay at the club, but his agent, Jean-Pierre Barnes, has suggested his client could still join Klopp’s side.

“He didn’t sign because um… it is not over! This is not the end of the story,” he told French TV channel LCI on Monday, via the Liverpool Echo.

Fekir is currently away with France at the 2018 World Cup and has refused to comment on his future until after the tournament finishes next month.

The 24-year-old is fresh from his best ever season for Lyon and would add further star quality to Liverpool’s offensive options.

Fekir scored 18 goals and provided a further eight assists in 30 league appearances last term, picking up the WhoScored Man of the Match award on 12 occasions.
