Barcelona have announced Javier Mascherano will sign a two-year extension on Monday keeping him at the club until 2019.
Mascherano, 32, was heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the summer only for Barcelona to block the move after already losing Dani Alves to the Serie A champions.
The Argentine defender had one year remaining on his existing deal but there has been a breakthrough in negotiations and he will remain at the club until he is 35.
Mascherano has endured a difficult start to the season and is Barcelona’s lowest rated player from those that have started more than one league game this season (6.40).
