Leicester forward Riyad Mahrez has vowed to stay at the club until the end of the season, despite a wave of interested from some of the biggest teams in the England.
Mahrez, 23, has been far and way the best player in the Premier League this season and his mesmeric performances have been integral to Leicester’s astonishing form that has put them two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the league.
The Algeria international’s performances have even attracted reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United, but the Leicester star insists he will not make a decision on his future until the end of the current campaign.
“It’s best for me to stay until the end of the season,” Mahrez told French radio station RMC.
“I was at Le Harve, I had six months left but nobody came to get me. Leicester tried very hard to get me. I could feel that they wanted me. I took the decision without knowing the culture or the area. It was a risk.
“When you come from far away and you end up in the Premier League it makes you happy. I am happy that I signed for Leicester.”
In the Premier League this season, no player requires fewer minutes per goal or assist than Mahrez (every 67.4 mins).
