Juventus plot surprise move for Leicester ace

Juventus have earmarked Leicester right-back Ricardo Pereira as their top replacement for Manchester City-bound Joao Cancelo, claims The Sun.

City are locked in talks to sign Cancelo from Juventus but first need to sell out of favour full-back Danilo.

Juventus expect to fetch in the region of £50m from Cancelo’s sale and plan to use that money to sign his replacement.

Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier has been heavily linked with a £25m move to Turin but now it has emerged Pereira is their preferred target.

Leicester only signed Pereira from Porto 12 months ago and the Portugal international was named the club’s player of the season in his first year at the club.

Pereira, who cost Leicester £22m, finished ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back in the WhoScored Premier League Team of the Season last term (7.34 rating).

The 25-year-old played a direct hand in eight goals in 35 league appearances in 2018/19 (two goals, six assists) and only three players completed more tackles and interceptions than Pereira (178).
