PSG switch attentions to La Liga Ballon d’Or finalist

Paris Saint-Germain have made Neymar their main summer target after Real Madrid’s transfer embargo ruined their plans to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, according to L’Equipe.

The Ligue 1 champions have long been linked with a move for Ronaldo and appeared favourites to land the three-time World Player of the Year at the end of the season.

However, Madrid were hit with a transfer ban on Thursday, which means Zinedine Zidane’s side will not be able to register any new signings for the next two transfer windows.

Their inability to buy players will almost certainly rule out the departures of either Gareth Bale or Ronaldo this summer, forcing PSG to look for other alternatives.

According to reports from the French capital, PSG will now turn their attentions to Barcelona star Neymar.

The Brazil international has been in tremendous form this season and was named the third best player in the world in Zurich on Monday. In fact, Neymar is currently the highest rated player across Europe’s top five leagues this season (8.71 rating).
