Manchester United midfielder ready to pledge long-term future to club

Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has convinced Ander Herrera his future is at Old Trafford, claims The Sun.

Herrera has entered the final six months of his existing United deal and is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

Former club Athletic Club are keen to re-sign the 29-year-old just five years after he left the club.

Herrera looked on course to leave United at the end of the current campaign during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club but that has now changed.

Solskjaer has worked wonders to lift the mood around the club since taking charge before Christmas and has convinced Herrera to pledge his long-term future to the club.

Herrera has established himself as a key part of United’s midfield under Solskjaer, starting three of the Norwegian’s first five games in charge.

The former Spain international has played a direct hand in three goals in that time, more than in his 12 matches under Mourinho in all competitions this season (2).
