Aaron Ramsey has ruled out leaving Arsenal in January and will run down his contract.
The Wales international has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal contract and the Gunners have withdrawn their most recent offer.
Ramsey was close to agreeing a new long-term deal but that is no longer the case following the departure of chief executive Ivan Gazidis last month.
Liverpool and Manchester United are both keen on the 27-year-old but will have to wait until the summer before having the chance to sign him.
“Everything has been going great with the club,” Ramsey told The Daily Telegraph. “We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal, but that is no longer the case.
“So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season and I’ll leave the rest with the club now.
“That’s a decision that they have made. Things happen in football and you just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can. That is all I am concentrating on and giving my best for Arsenal.
“Of course, yeah,” he responded when asked whether he would stay for the whole season. “I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best this season to try and achieve something special.”
Now that Ramsey has declared his intention to run down his Arsenal contract, United and Liverpool run the risk of losing the Welshman to a foreign side.
Teams from abroad will be free to strike a pre-contract agreement from January and Juventus are reportedly planning to offer Ramsey a lucrative deal.
Since the start of last season, only Alexandre Lacazette (24) has played a direct hand in more Premier League goals for Arsenal than Ramsey (19).
