Everton veteran seeks clarification on future with West Ham interested
Phil Jagielka will hold talks with Everton manager Ronald Koeman about his immediate future as Sunderland and West Ham weigh up a move for the experienced defender, reports The Daily Mail.
The 34-year-old has featured in 15 Premier League games for Everton this season but he has endured a difficult season and looked out of his depth at times as he enters the twilight of his playing career.
Jagielka was an unused substitute during Everton’s emphatic 4-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday despite the fact Koeman started the match three centre-backs on the pitch.
The England international was overlooked in favour of 20-year-old Mason Holgate and, with Sunderland and West Ham interested in his services; Jagielka is looking for clarification on his immediate future at the club before weighing up his options in the January transfer window.
In the last three Premier League campaigns only Gareth Barry and John Stones (both 10) have committed more errors that have directly led to an opposition goal than Jagielka (9).
