Atletico Madrid prepare bumper deal for Manchester United target

Atletico Madrid are readying a new deal for star man Antoine Griezmann in a bid to derail Manchester United’s pursuit of the striker, reports The Daily Mirror.

Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move away from Atletico throughout the season and his advisor has already revealed the likes of United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea have all made an approach for his services.

The France international has a €100m (£85m) release clause in his current £120,000-a-week deal, which would not be beyond United’s means having paid in that region to sign Griezmann’s close friend, Paul Pogba, last summer.

However, Diego Simeone’s side have no desire to sell Griezmann and now want to offer the 26-year-old a new £180,000-a-week contract that would increase each year until 2023.

Griezmann has previously admitted that his Atletico future is dependant on Simeone’s time at the club and with the fiery Argentine set to leave at the end of next season, they could find it difficult to get Griezmann to agree to a new deal.

Only Lionel Messi (34), Luis Suarez (35) and Cristiano Ronaldo (25) have scored or assisted more goals in La Liga this season than Griezmann (22).
