Chelsea star still top of Tottenham's midfielder wishlist

Tottenham are still hoping to lure Conor Gallagher away from Chelsea this month as they look to bring in a new midfielder, reports the Independent.

Spurs confirmed the signing of Timo Werner earlier this week and are hoping to announce the addition of Radu Dragusin before Friday's deadline ahead of their trip to Manchester United.

A new midfielder remains high on the club's wishlist with Gallagher their number one target though they'd need to convince the England international to swap west for north London.

Chelsea are willing to do a deal for Gallagher for the right price as they look to stay in line with Financial Fair Play regulations with the 23-year-old one of a number of homegrown players supposedly up for grabs.

Gallagher is currently Chelsea's best rated player having earned a WhoScored rating of 7.07 in the Premier League this season with Mauricio Pochettino keen to keep the midfielder, who has captained the side in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell this season.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has a number of midfielders on the books at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but with Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma on AFCON duty, Giovani Lo Celso again injured and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg free to leave this month, the Australian boss is looking to add another body in the middle of the park this month.
