Newcastle have announced they have signed Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle in a £10m deal.
Gayle, 25, was close to joining Bristol City for £6m before the start of last season before he signed a new long-term deal with the Eagles in February.
However, the England striker has now put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Newcastle after completing his £10m move.
“It’s a dream come true to be at a big club like this,” Gayle told Newcastle’s official website.
“Newcastle has a massive fan base and a great history so it is amazing to be here.
“I can’t wait to get started, prove myself and score the goals that take us back up to the Premier League. It’s where the club belongs.
In the last three league campaigns, only Glenn Murray (173.4 mins) has a better minute per goal ratio than Gayle for Palace (182.7 mins).
