Tottenham confirm Kane hamstring tear

Tottenham have released the briefest of statements on their club website confirming that Harry Kane has suffered a tear to his left hamstring.

The striker hobbled off in the second half of the defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day and while the nature of the injury is different, it's certainly not the first time the England international has suffered such a setback midway through recent seasons.

Spurs refused to comment on how long the injury may sideline their stand-in skipper for, stating only that the " medical staff will continue to review the injury with treatment ongoing."

That said, Kane is expected to miss out for the best part of the month, though the club will be confident of having their top scorer back available for the return of the Champions League and the first leg of their double header with RB Leipzig in mid-February. The forward has six goals in five appearances in Europe this season compared to a more modest 11 from 20 Premier League outings.

Luckily for Jose Mourinho, Heung-Min Son should return fresh from a three-match suspension which ended with the defeat on the south coast, with the South Korean ready to lead the line as the Londoners host league leaders Liverpool next weekend.
