Tottenham set to reward Pochettino with huge new deal

Tottenham want to make Mauricio Pochettino one of the best paid managers in the Premier League and are hopeful of securing his long-term future, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Since being appointed Tottenham boss in May 2014, Pochettino has developed into one of the most sought after managers in Europe and the north London outfit are desperate to hold on to him.

The Argentine has been heavily linked with top jobs at Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain this summer but Tottenham want the 46-year-old to build a dynasty at the club.

Tottenham are due to move into their new stadium next season and it would be a disaster for the club if Pochettino is not in charge to make the transition from White Hart Lane.

There is also a feeling that Pochettino is the glue that is currently keeping all of Tottenham’s best players at the club and if he leaves so might they.

Pochettino currently earns in the region of £5.5m-a-year but Tottenham are willing to increase his annual salary by £3m in order to fend off interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Tottenham are now eight points clear of fifth place Chelsea after ending their 28-year wait for an away league win over their west London rivals on Sunday.

In fact, if the Premier League table only accounted for results in 2018 then Tottenham would be two points clear of Manchester City, albeit having played a game more.
