Swansea boss says Sigurdsson to Everton is imminent

Swansea head coach Paul Clement has revealed Gylfi Sigurdsson is close to joining Everton and expects a deal to be finalised by the end of the week.

Sigurdsson has been heavily linked with a move away from Swansea after enjoying a sublime campaign for Clement’s men last term.

The Iceland international was left out of Swansea’s pre-season tour of America to work on securing a move away from the club and now Clement has revealed a £45m switch to Everton is imminent.

“Talks are still going on and hopefully we are going to get some news in the next couple of days,” Yahoo quotes Clement as saying.

“The deal needs to be best for all parties involved, we have got a very, very important season coming up. We know what happened last season if you don’t make a good start and we don’t want that to happen again.”
