Aston Villa eye audacious move for Leverkusen's Leon Bailey

Aston Villa are planning an audacious move for £30m-rated Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, claims The Daily Mail.

Bailey, who has been regularly linked with a move to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, has entered the final two years of his current Leverkusen contract.

Villa have already bolstered their attacking options this summer with the £40m arrival of Emiliano Buendia from Norwich but Dean Smith wants to strengthen further.

Villa have had two bids for Emile Smith Rowe rejected, with the latest topping £30m, and appear to have conceded defeat in their pursuit of the Arsenal youngster.

Their interest in Bailey will only raise further doubts about Jack Grealish's future at the club amid strong interest from Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's side are reportedly lining up a club-record £100m move for Villa's captain and Bailey could be his replacement.

However, Villa are in talks with Grealish about a new deal and the prospect of Bailey complementing Grealish rather than replacing him is a mouthwatering prospect.

Of players that made at least 30 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, Bailey completed a dribble more frequently than any other player in the division (one every 29 minutes).
