Manchester City turn to Real Madrid to solve backline issues

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is ready to give up on Claudio Bravo after just 12 months and turn to Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to AS.

Bravo, 34, joined City from Barcelona at the start of the season after Guardiola deemed Joe Hart surplus to requirements but the Chile international has struggled to adapt to live in England and has already lost his place in the team to Willy Caballero.

Guardiola has already confirmed he will address his goalkeeping situation at the end of the season but neither Bravo, Hart or Caballero are expected to start next season in goal for City, with a number of goalkeepers being linked with a move to the Etihad.

Despite Bravo’s failings this season, the City boss is ready to return to Spain for his next goalkeeper and had Keylor Navas a route out of Madrid in the summer.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are determined to sign a marquee goalkeeper at the end of the season and have already been linked with a move for Premier League duo David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois, which would leave little room for Navas in the team.

The Costa Rica international has made a string of errors this season and his position at the club has come under increasing scrutiny alongside rumours of a replacement in the summer. In fact, no player has made more errors that have directly led to an opponents goal in La Liga this season than Navas (3).
