Bayern defender out for three months

Bayern Munich have confirmed defender Jerome Boateng will miss the next three months with a groin injury.

Boateng, 27, was forced off in the second half of Bayern’s 2-1 win over Hamburg in their first league game back after the winter break.

The Germany international had an MRI scan shortly afterwards and it has now been revealed he will miss the next three months leaving him a huge doubt for the start of the Euro’s in the summer.

Boateng is regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe and his loss is a huge blow for Bayern’s hopes in the Champions League.
