Team News

Chelsea
Sunderland
  • Cesc Fabregas is suspended following his red card in the 3-0 defeat at West Brom.
  • He joins Oscar, Ramires and Kurt Zouma on the sidelines, with the trio injured, while Eden Hazard is a doubt having undergone emergency dental surgery this week.
  • Ruben Loftus-Cheek is expected to partner Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park, while Petr Cech and Juan Cuadrado are in line to start.
  • Sebastian Larsson sustained a knock late on in the 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday night, but Dick Advocaat will have the midfielder available.
  • The Black Cats are without injured quartet Ricky Alvarez, Liam Bridcutt, Costel Pantilimon, Jordi Gomez and Wes Brown for the trip to Chelsea.
  • Steven Fletcher start in attack after impressing from the bench at the Emirates, with Danny Graham a doubt.

Prediction

  • Chelsea fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat to West Brom on Monday night, though the defeat meant little as they had already secured Premier League glory this season. The Blues, nonetheless, will be keen to end the campaign with a win in front of their own fans.
  • A draw at Arsenal on Wednesday night secured Sunderland's top-flight safety and they can make the trip to Stamford Bridge with the pressure off. The Black Cats have lost only one of their last five away from home and will look to make things difficult for the London side.
  • Chelsea are the only team yet to lose at home this season and they should continue this record with a win on Sunday.

  • Hazard has got to be the most underrated passer in the world that first half pass to ivanovich was just out of this world.

  • Chelsea 5-0 sunderland

  • 0:2

  • 2-0 to Chelsea. No pressure on either team.

  • I can't wait we finally get to see our boys lift that trophy!

  • @Agreen- Should be a relatively easy game too now Sunderland have secured top flight football.

  • @SteveHyland yes was very happy to see that, now the game can be about Chelsea's celebration. And sorry went to like your comment and accidentally his dislike and of course whoscored won't let you change it lol

  • @Agreen- Ha, that's alright. There are people on here that aren't fans of prem teams that downvote every comment, like my one regarding RL-C. Unless it's Jordan Henderson fanboys getting their knickers in a twist- which is more than possible. :-p

  • @SteveHyland yes the worst is the la liga fanboys who come on here, I certainly disagree with arsenal fans on a lot things but they are WAY better than Real Madrid fans who will come on the premier league website just to say they would beat every team in epl 8-0 which of course is idiotic.

  • @Agreen- I think every big club's fans, at least prem teams, are equal on here (percentage wise)- you get the very best and the very worst. Can't disagree with you on the Madridistas but by far the worst are the Ronaldo fanboys. Unfortunately they aren't limited to Real supporters so there are a load here.

  • Would like to see Loftus-Cheek start again. He has been included in the initial Under-21 Euro squad. Looking at the other midfielders picked, I'd much rather RL-C got the nod over those who have played a whole season in the championship. That calming, sitting midfielder which the more attacking midfielders don't have to worry about cocking up is 1 of the key positions England have a dearth of talent in and as much exposure to international football as possible (albeit at the 2nd level) the better. Hopefully Isaiah Brown gets the start ahead of Remy. Loic will be Chelsea's understudy to Costa next year so as an English non-Chelsea fan, we need to see what Brown is capable of against physical and disciplined defenders. He is a precocious individual, not too dissimilar to Lukaku in that regard when he was at Chelsea, so his age isn't really a factor. Making the runs the Chelsea playmakers want him too will take some learning though.

  • 2-3:0

  • By no means an easy win for Chelsea. In games where there's no real stake literally anything can happen.

  • Time for Christensen to get a run!

  • Coates 2 dribbles? Really? I can't remember them, but if whoscored says so, I guess he did them. Anyway, the big guy handled Drogba very well and has been a wall in defence in the last few games under Advocaat... which makes me wonder what's gonna happen with him now. Would Liverpool call him back? Their defence is a shambles, but I don't think Coates would fit in Rodgers style ... IF Rodgers remains there. Coates is great against big, powerful strikers, but too slow to play a high line and his passing game isn't good either. Would Sunderland ask to extend the loan for another year? May be buy him (if cheap)?
