Team News

Arsenal
Sunderland
  • Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are still short of fitness and may not be available for Arsenal in their midweek meeting with Sunderland.
  • Danny Welbeck and Mathieu Debuchy are doubts, though will be assessed closer to kick off.
  • Arsene Wenger may be tempted to name an unchanged XI from the one that secured a point at Old Trafford on Sunday.
  • Billy Jones was forced off in the 0-0 draw with Leicester at the weekend and is expected to miss out for the visitors here.
  • Ricky Alvarez, Liam Bridcutt, Jordi Gomez and Wes Brown are all sidelined and will all sit out the trip to capital.
  • Dick Advocaat should retain a similar looking formation to the one he has used in recent weeks.

Prediction

  • Arsenal quickly moved on from their surprise 1-0 home loss to Swansea to secure a commendable 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday. Victory over the Black Cats will secure the Gunners a top-3 spot this season.
  • A positive result for Sunderland will guarantee them a place in England's top tier next term. Dick Advocaat's side have lost just 1 of their last 6 league games and confidence should be high coming into this encounter.
  • While Arsenal succumbed to defeat at home last time out, they have what it takes to emerge from this fixture victorious.

  • Premier Bus League more like it. Chelsea and Sunderland have combined to reduce the amount of goals scored in the premier league this season. Might finish below 1000 for the first time in years. Must give thanks to the Chelsea Bus Company under Ms. Maureen.

  • @Overmars Faggot

  • @Overmars Fag

  • @Overmars applaud them for being able to even do that.

  • @Overmars To be fair Chelsea are the 2nd top goalscorers in the league, blame Southampton who have conceded the same amount as Chelsea, but not scored near as many.

  • @Villa But Southampton sold all their best players and don't have access to unlimited amounts of dirty rubles from Abramovich.

  • @Overmars wow you are incredibly stupid, saying it's the team with the second most goals' fault there isn't enough goals this year. You have got to be one of the most delusional clowns out there. to me watching a team play great defense and score goals is better to watch then a team that just passed it back and forth and scores less.

  • Congrats to Sunderland on all the great drawn games.

  • So, what did Ramsey do?

  • @tricho340 He fell over many, many times.

  • @tricho340- Ramsey's productivity is down this year due to a mixture of injuries and playing out of position. At the start of last season when he was playing in his preferred position and obviously injury-free, he looked up there with the best in the league- every bit as good as Suarez. Even with his injuries last year he managed a goal every 2 games which for a midfielder who doesn't take free-kicks or penalties is astonishing, even moreso when you take into account he's involved in the build-up as well. A goal every 4 games for somebody who has played sporadically in his favoured position is still great going.

  • Finally! Rosicky!!!!!!

  • Mmm, who doesn't love an 8-0-2 formation. Mourinho is wetting himself with delight.

  • @What4- More like a 9-1-0.

  • @SteveHyland Connor Wickham looking like Raphael Varane with that sliding tackle

  • @MiguelSuave- Ha, yep. I'd like to see Defoe's 2nd half heat map too. Vintage Maldini positioning.

  • Now, I don't know what the ratings above mean but I have watched the last 3 matches of Arsenal and Ramsey is AWFUL. I am not a hater, I am just objective based on the effectiveness of the player. About 90% of his game was waste.

  • Wilshere in for Coquelin and Gibbs in for Monreal. Looks like Wenger wants to win this then rest those who need a rest at the weekend. Best case scenario, 3-0 at half time, Sanchez, Cazorla and Giroud subbed.

  • on paper, Sunderland has no chance, but they will be desperate for at least a draw which could be enough to save them from relegation...look for 11 men behind the ball defense for Sunderland.

  • 2-0 if Arsenal doesn't concede or 3-1 if they do.

  • All hull fans have to encourage gunners

  • @SalahovicAlnashar they will still die, GGMU

  • Sunderland will be extremely compact and defensively tight at the back and will try their best to score from set pieces and counter attacks. This game will be determined by our ability to be quick on our attacks and maintain concentration. I believe it will be a boring game until we manage to successfully break down Sunderland and then it will be much more open. I say it will be 2-1 for the Gunners.

  • Arsenal win this one 6-0

  • @310381 arsenal loose 2-1

  • Giroud, Cazorla, Alexis - they all need some rest. I would love to see Akpom leading the attack with Theo supporting him. COYG!

  • @ramsey Akpom's on loan

  • @danielfoster1991 Championship is over and Akpom is training with the first team :)

  • @ramsey no way Alexis sitting this one out... or any for that matter...

  • As a Man Utd fan. I would still support Arsenal for a win here. They didn't give up during that 1-1 match against us and they gave us a good show. I would say Arsenal to win 2-0 or 2-1 here.

  • @Kasake you would want arsenal to loose here and loose their final match if u say you are a man utd fan

  • play wilshere and walcott, let cazorla and ramsey rest a little bit.

  • We should stop playing Ramsey out wide.. Please

  • as a man utd fan i want arsenal to loose their 2 remaining games so we can automatically qualify for UCL..... :)

  • @john666 I'm not sure if you're going to beat Hull or not :(

  • @ramsey as i said on the man utd game, am sorry that we will be the ones responsible to relegate Hull, but such is life

  • @ramsey well we will just have to wait and see

  • @john666 I don't say you can't win. Hull will fight as real tigers and if we get just one point tonight, you'll have no motivation at all. That's important!

  • @ramsey yeah, that's true, you are 100% right
