Team News

Spain
England
  • Luis de la Fuente recovers both Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal after both missed the semi-final win over France due to suspension.
  • The pair should come in for Nacho and Jesus Navas, respectively.
  • Pedri is absent, with in-demand Dani Olmo expected to continue in midfield with De la Fuente expected to keep changes to a minimum bar the aforementioned trio returning.
  • Kieran Trippier came off at the break against the Netherlands and will be assessed, with Luke Shaw ready to come into the side if required.
  • That may be Gareth Southgate's only change to the XI that started Wednesday's 2-1 win.
  • Super-sub Ollie Watkins is likely to start from the bench once again despite his 90th-minute winner in Dortmund.

Prediction

  • And so it comes to this. Spain and England will battle it out to be crowned Euro 2024 champions, meeting for the first time since 2018, where England won 3-2 in the UEFA Nations League.
  • Spain will draw upon inspiration from their 1-0 win over England in the Women's World Cup final last August and come into Sunday's final having won all six games so far. La Roja have conceded just three goals on their way to Sunday's showpiece, and just twice from open play, but haven't been completely solid at the back having conceded 7.63 xG at Euro 2024, the fourth most.
  • England haven't pulled up any trees in Germany but Gareth Southgate deserves immense credit for guiding the Three Lions to a second successive Euros final. The attack is yet to really click, though they are conceding just 9.5 shots per game, the fourth fewest. In turn, Spain have generated the most xG at Euro 2024, so they will really pressure this England backline.
  • In a game of fine margins, few will want to make any mistakes in what could prove a close encounter that goes all the way in Berlin.
