- Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named just one change to the Terrors team that left it late to beat Aberdeen at Tannadice by a sole goal, before another late winner saw them beat Dundee 2-1 at Dens in the derby to start 2025 in style.
- Jack Walton continued in goal behind Emmanuel Adegboyega and Kevin Holt. Will Ferry and Ryan Strain started at left-back and right-back respectively once more. The sole change saw club captain Ross Docherty make a first start since the beginning of October.
- David Babunski made way for the skipper to accompany Vicko Sevelj in midfield. A trio of Glenn Middleton, Luca Stephenson and Kristijan Trapanovski supported lone striker Sam Dalby, the derby matchwinner and division's top scorer.
- Hearts boss Neil Critchley named two changes after the Jambos' collapse against Ross County in their disappointing 2-2 draw in Dingwall, before a sole goal success against Motherwell at Tynecastle meant that 2025 began with a victory.
- Craig Gordon was chosen in goal again for the Jambos, as Craig Halkett replaced Daniel Oyegoke to partner Kye Rowles in front of him. Adam Forrester continued at right-back with James Penrice remaining at left-back.
- Jorge Grant was joined by Cammy Devlin in midfield, as he replaced Beni Baningime in the middle of the park. Midweek matchwinner Musa Drammeh and Blair Spittal joined Liam Boyce, in support of teenage talent James Wilson up front.
