Team News

Dundee United
Motherwell
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named just one change to the Terrors team that beat Hibernian as two injury time goals saw them win 3-2 at Tannadice, before United lost late on by a sole goal to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind a back three of Kevin Holt, Declan Gallagher and Emmanuel Adegboyega. Will Ferry and Luca Stephenson remained at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • David Babunski and Vicko Sevelj were given the nod in the middle of the park once more. Glenn Middleton and Kristijan Trapanovski, the only weekend change, supported lone striker Sam Dalby as Miller Thomson dropped onto the bench.
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named two changes to the Steelmen side that suffered a sole goal defeat to Dundee at Fir Park, before they were swept aside by Celtic in a 3-0 defeat on Sunday afternoon.
  • Aston Oxborough continued in goal behind Liam Gordon, who is suspended for this one following his late sending off, Kofi Balmer and Stephen O'Donnell. Marvin Kaleta came in at right wing-back for Dan Casey.
  • Ewan Wilson kept his place on the left hand-side as Davor Zdravkovski and Andy Halliday were joined in the middle of the park by Tom Sparrow. Lennon Miller supported Apostolos Stamatelopoulos in attack, as Zach Robinson made way.

Prediction

  • Fourth hosts fifth in the Scottish Premiership, as Dundee United and Motherwell go toe-to-toe at Tannadice in their midweek meeting.
  • Dundee United suffered their first away loss of the Scottish Premiership campaign, and second defeat of the season so far, on Saturday after Aberdeen left it late to get the better of United. The Terrors have lost their last three league meetings with the Dons, but will hope to put the late heartbreak behind them and get back to winning ways to continue their solid start to the season.
  • Motherwell's rancid record against Celtic continued, as the Well are still searching for that elusive first victory over the Hoops since December 2015 and it's now 32 meetings against the league leaders without a win. No goals in two matches is a concern, as is the fact that no side has kept fewer clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership this calendar year - 2024 - than Motherwell (just 2).
  • Motherwell have lost their shooting boots in recent matches and, with a few defensive absentees, Dundee United will look to take advantage of that at Tannadice on Wednesday night.
