Team News

Celtic
Aberdeen
  • Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers named three changes after the Celts were destroyed in Dortmund 7-1 in the Champions League, before they left it late to beat Ross County 2-1 in Dingwall in their last Scottish Premiership match.
  • Kasper Schmeichel continued in goal, behind a back four of Alex Valle - who made his first league start for Celtic - Liam Scales, Auston Trusty and Alistair Johnston as Cameron Carter-Vickers still missed out through injury.
  • Reo Hatate replaced Paulo Bernardo as Callum McGregor and Arne Engels were chosen once more in midfield. Daizen Maeda and Nicholas Kühn, the matchwinner for the Hoops in the Highlands, supported Adam Idah as opposed to Kyogo Furuhashi.
  • Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin named an unchanged Dons team after they claimed a 2-1 win at Dens Park against Dundee, before they also left it late to beat Hearts 3-2 at Pittodrie prior to the international break.
  • Dimitar Mitov continued in goal behind Jack MacKenzie, Gavin Molloy, Slobodan Rubezic and Nicky Devlin - the unchanged back four in front of him. Captain Graeme Shinnie accompanied Sivert Nilsen in midfield.
  • Ante Palaversa came off the bench to net the winner amongst the Jambos. Jamie McGrath, Leighton Clarkson and Topi Keskinen supported lone striker Kevin Nisbet in the Aberdeen attack.

Prediction

  • The only two teams in the Scottish Premiership with a 100% record go head-to-head at Parkhead, as Celtic host Aberdeen in Glasgow.
  • The Hoops missed out on the chance to make history, as their defence was breached in Dingwall, but they bounced back to win their seventh league game on the spin. Having not conceded a Scottish Premiership goal prior to that, the wait to win their opening seven league games without conceding a goal goes on. Celtic must be at their best to make it eight straight victories here.
  • The same could be said for Aberdeen, but the Dons have won their opening seven matches of a Scottish Premiership season for the first time since 2015/16. Back then, the Dons opened their league season with eight straight wins. If they did so in 2024/25, the world may sit up and take notice as Scottish football waits for a first top tier league winner from outside Glasgow since 1984/85.
  • Aberdeen haven't beaten Celtic since a 1-0 win in Glasgow back in May 2018 so, despite heading to Celtic Park full of belief and confidence, history tells us that the Hoops should emerge victorious.
