Team News

Kilmarnock
Hearts
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named three changes to the Killie team that was mauled in midweek 6-0 by Rangers at Ibrox, before they left it late to depart Dundee with a point in a 1-1 draw against United at Tannadice last weekend.
  • Robby McCrorie continued in goal behind Lewis Mayo, Joe Wright and Robbie Deas. Danny Armstrong remained at right wing-back with Corrie Ndaba on the left hand-side as Oliver Bainbridge was sat among the substitutes on Saturday.
  • Liam Polworth made his first start since September, as David Watson made way in midfield, joining the incoming Fraser Murray and Brad Lyons who were chosen in the middle of the park. Bruce Anderson and Kyle Vassell lead the line as Marley Watkins dropped onto the bench.
  • Hearts boss Neil Critchley named five changes after the Jambos were beaten in Belgium by Cercle Brugge 2-0 in their Europa Conference League match, before they rescued a point against Aberdeen at Tynecastle last Sunday.
  • Craig Gordon continued in goal behind a back four of Daniel Oyegoke, Frankie Kent, who was stretchered off in Denmark after replacing the injured Craig Halkett, Kye Rowles and James Penrice. Cammy Devlin and Malachi Boateng remained in the middle of the park.
  • Blair Spittal was joined by Kenneth Vargas and Alan Forrest, who replaced Musa Drammeh and James Wilson, in support of Lawrence Shankland. The Jambos' number nine netted a brace against Dundee last weekend but is suspended to face Kilmarnock in Ayrshire.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's Scottish Premiership top four, who currently find themselves in this season's bottom three, meet at Rugby Park on Sunday as Kilmarnock host Heart of Midlothian.
  • Kilmarnock left it late to clinch a draw against Dundee United, missing out on the chance to win back-to-back top tier games at Tannadice since winning four on the spin in August 2002, but it was an overall decent response after suffering their heaviest Scottish Premiership defeat since losing to Celtic by the same scoreline in April 2012. Having beaten Hearts in Edinburgh, they'll fancy their chances at home this weekend.
  • Heart of Midlothian picked up just their second win in their last nine Scottish Premiership matches at Tynecastle last weekend, before disappointment in Denmark against FC Kobenhavn. The Danish league leaders proved too strong for the Jambos, as they did for Kilmarnock in qualifying, but Hearts needed to get back to winning ways domestically. Having lost to Killie at Tynecastle, they are seeking revenge.
  • Games between Kilmarnock and Hearts are often tight affairs, but Killie will hope to take advantage of the Jambos' defensive - and particularly offensive - absentees this weekend.
