Team News

Kilmarnock
Motherwell
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named four changes to the Killie team that began 2025 with a 2-0 success against St Mirren at Rugby Park, before a sole-goal defeat to Ross County in Ayrshire at the weekend.
  • Robby McCrorie continued in goal, behind Corrie Ndaba, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo in the Killie backline as Robbie Deas dropped onto the bench. Brad Lyons was joined by David Watson and Liam Donnelly in midfield, as opposed to Liam Polworth and Bobby Wales.
  • Danny Armstrong started on the right-hand side of the five-man midfield, as Fraser Murray moved over to the left-hand side. Innes Cameron joined Bruce Anderson in attack, replacing Kyle Vassell in his first start since August.
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named three changes to the Steelmen side that drew 2-2 with Rangers at Fir Park, before they lost by a sole goal to Hearts at Tynecastle on Thursday afternoon in Edinburgh.
  • Aston Oxborough remained in goal behind the incoming Kofi Balmer, who replaced Shane Blaney, Dan Casey and Liam Gordon in the back three. Marvin Kaleta came in for Stephen O'Donnell at right-wing back, with Ewan Wilson continuing on the left.
  • Davor Zdravkovski took Harry Paton's place to join Andy Halliday in midfield. Tawanda Maswanhise supported Tony Watt and Moses Ebiye, who started at Tom Sparrow's expense, in the Well attack against Aberdeen.

Prediction

  • 10th meets fifth at Rugby Park, with just five points separating Kilmarnock in a basement battle behind a Motherwell team currently occupying a top-six spot in the Scottish Premiership.
  • Kilmarnock lost just their second of 10 Scottish Premiership home matches against Ross County at the weekend, with their previous defeat also by a sole goal in September 2023. It's the first time that Killie have lost back-to-back matches against Ross County in the league since September 2017, which was a shock after previously winning three league games on the spin in Ayrshire.
  • Motherwell were winless in four Scottish Premiership matches, prior to a wonderful win against Aberdeen at Fir Park, their longest streak without a victory in the league since a run of 15 games which concluded in December 2023. It was a much-needed victory for the Steelmen, who had lost six of their last seven meetings against the Dons before Sunday's success, ahead of this game.
  • These two teams played out a 1-1 draw on a Friday night at Fir Park last month, so a similar story in their midweek meeting at Rugby Park wouldn't be too much of a shock.
