- St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson made five changes from Saints' Europa Conference League qualifying exit after they lost 3-1 to Brann in Norway, before they were knocked out of the Scottish League Cup by losing 1-0 to Dundee United.
- European goalscorer Alex Iacovitti replaced Richard Taylor to join Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser in the Buddies' back three at Tannadice. Academy graduate Fraser Taylor made his first Saints start, replacing the injured Dennis Adeniran in the midfield.
- Scott Tanser took Jaden Brown's spot at left wing-back. Oisin Symth replaced the injured Caolan Boyd-Munce in the middle of the park. Mikael Mandron joined Toyosi Olusanya in attack at Jonah Ayunga's expense.
- Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made just one change as the Hoops made it two league wins from as many games as they beat Hibernian 2-0 at Easter Road, before they knocked the Hibees out of the League Cup with a 3-1 win at home.
- Kasper Schmeichel conceded his first Celtic goal, between the sticks, behind a back four of Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor. Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and Matt O'Riley continued in midfield.
- The only alteration came up front, as Kyogo Furuhashi limped off injured in Edinburgh. Adam Idah watched on from the bench as James Forrest and Nicholas Kühn supported Daizen Maeda - who bagged a brace - in attack last weekend.
