  • St Mirren have lost both Ryan Strain to Dundee United and Keanu Baccus to Mansfield Town. James Bolton has headed back down south to join Fleetwood Town. Charles Dunne has left the club, meanwhile Alex Greive has departed for Irish side Bohemians.
  • Goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has signed on loan from Brentford. Former St Johnstone full-back Shaun Rooney has joined the Buddies from Fleetwood Town. And former Ross County defender Alex Iacovitti has arrived from Port Vale.
  • Full-back Jaden Brown has signed from Lincoln City. Midfielder Dennis Adeniran has arrived from Hapoel Petah Tikva in Israel. Oisin Smyth joins the Buddies from Oxford United and James Scott turned his temporary stay into a permanent one.
  • David Marshall hang up the gloves at the end of last season. Hibees stalwarts Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson both departed Easter Road for Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship.
  • Dan MacKay also dropped a division to sign for Partick Thistle. Adam Le Fondre left Hibernian, as yet without a club. Jojo Wollacott departed Leith to sign for Crawley Town in English League 1. Ewan Henderson has been sold to Belgian side Beerschot.
  • Goalkeeper Josef Bursik has joined the Hibees on loan from Club Brugge. Fellow shotstopper Jordan Smith has signed from Stockport County. Defensive duo Marvin Ekpiteta and Warren O'Hora have signed from Blackpool and MK Dons respectively.

Prediction

  • St Mirren picked up a point more than Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership last season, as the Buddies finished fifth and the Hibees were sat in eighth.
  • The Buddies have been participating in European competition for the first time since 1987, meaning that a generation or more of Saints supporters are watching on with pride at their team competing - and winning - on the continent. They will want to make nights like the matches against Icelandic outfit Valur a far more regular occurrence, so are hoping for another strong top-half finish this time around.
  • The Hibees have appointed club legend David Gray in the hope of improving on a disappointing 2023/24 Scottish Premiership season. Despite qualifying top of their League Cup group, their campaign included a defeat to League 1 side Kelty Hearts in their first ever competitive meeting with the Maroon Machine. Hibs want to be back in the top half, so hope to get there by hook or by crook.
  • St Mirren were undefeated in three league meetings with Hibernian last season so, despite the Hibees knocking them out of last season's League Cup, will want to keep their decent recent run against Hibs going.
