Team News

Millwall
Watford
  • Lukas Jensen and Macaulay Langstaff should both make their Millwall debuts on Saturday, despite the latter only featuring fleetingly during pre-season.
  • Murray Wallace and Nino Adom-Malaki are both confirmed absentees, while star midfielder Zian Flemming is managing a minor calf injury.
  • Expect Tom Cleverley to field a 3-5-1-1 system on the opening day with Vakoun Bayo leading the line and new signings Antonio Tikvic and Moussa Sissoko making their debuts.
  • Summer signing Rocco Vata and centre-back Francisco Sierralta are both doubtful ahead of the season opener on Saturday.

Prediction

  • Neil Harris' return coincided with a major upturn in form last season. Millwall ended the campaign with five successive victories as they soared clear of the relegation battle.
  • With limited investment, bettering last year's 13th-place finish seems highly unlikely, although the goals of former Notts County star Macaulay Langstaff should help.
  • Watford ended last year in a worrying vein of form, and there are few signs that the new campaign will start in a more positive way.
  • The Hornets have a rookie manager in Tom Cleverley and have made limited moves in the transfer market. In particular, the lack of a goal threat is a major concern as Vakoun Bayo and Mileta Rajovic both struggled last season.

  • Sometimes …. Sometimes … it doesn’t work second time around but Harris will get what he wants from his team when necessary. Believed Watford would enjoy first game at the Den and get it out of the way with 3 points to boot

  • As I see it Watford will be glad to be away at the Den first up and will show their intent early in a game I see as back and forth with the scoreline, but I’m an away win in this opener
