Team News

Celtic
Rangers
  • Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers named an unchanged Celts side after a 2-1 victory over Dundee at Dens Park, before the Hoops hammered Hearts 3-0 at Parkhead in their last Scottish Premiership outing last Saturday.
  • Liam Scales returned to the heart of the Celtic defence, accompanying Cameron Carter-Vickers in front of Joe Hart in goal. Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor continued at right-back and left-back respectively.
  • Club captain Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Matt O'Riley made up the Hoops midfield. James Forrest was rewarded with a start against Hearts after bagging a brace against Dundee, he and Nicholas Kuhn supporting Kyogo Furuhashi in attack. Daizen Maeda was back on the bench last weekend.
  • Rangers boss Philippe Clement named an unchanged Gers team after clinching a 2-1 victory over St Mirren in Paisley, before sweeping ten-man Kilmarnock aside last Sunday 4-1 at Ibrox.
  • Borna Barisic joined James Tavernier, Leon Balogun and John Souttar in the Gers defence at left-back. Dujon Sterling moved from left back to right wing, as Abdallah Sima missed the St Mirren and Killie games through injury.
  • Fabio Silva started on the left at the injured Rabbi Matondo's expense. Mohamed Diomande and John Lundstram started in front of the back four with Todd Cantwell supporting lone striker Cyriel Dessers once again.

Prediction

  • The top two teams in the Scottish Premiership lock horns for the fourth and penultimate time – in all competitions - this season, as Celtic host Rangers at Parkhead on Saturday lunchtime.
  • The Hoops head into this weekend's game brimming with confidence, after sweeping Hearts aside to avoid consecutive home defeats against the capital club for the first time since May 1961. Celtic have won seven of their last eight home matches in the Scottish Premiership, scoring at least twice in six of those. A victory against their fierce rivals puts them on the verge of the league title.
  • Aided by a Kilmarnock red card last weekend before a rampant victory at Ibrox, Rangers head to Celtic Park with their hopes of winning the Scottish Premiership title hanging by a thread. They trail their bitter rivals by three points heading into this weekend's meeting and failure to come away with a win will make it very difficult for the Gers to leapfrog Celtic at the top of the table with two games left.
  • Celtic look to have the bit between their teeth recently and haven't lost to Rangers this season. The Hoops are heading towards their 12th title in 13 seasons, so should get the better of the Gers to effectively seal the deal.
