Team News

St. Mirren
Kilmarnock
  • St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson named just one change to the Saints side that narrowly lost 2-1 to Rangers in Paisley, before the Buddies bounced back to beat Dundee 3-1 at Dens Park last weekend.
  • Zach Hemming continued behind an unchanged back three of James Bolton, Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser. Scott Tanser and Ryan Strain carried on at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • Club captain Mark O'Hara and Caolan Boyd-Munce remained in the middle of the park. The only alteration from the Rangers defeat saw Greg Kiltie drop to the bench as Toyosi Olsuanya joined Conor McMenamin and Mikael Mandron in attack.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes made one change to the Killie team that held Hearts to a goalless draw in Ayrshire, before a battering at Ibrox where they lost 4-1 to Rangers in Sunday's sole Scottish Premiership fixture.
  • Will Dennis continued in goal behind a defensive trio of Stuart Findlay, Joe Wright - who was sent off against Rangers so misses out here - and Lewis Mayo. Corrie Ndaba came in for Robbie Deas, as Killie moved to a 4-4-2 as opposed to a 3-5-2.
  • Liam Donnelly and Liam Polworth continued in the middle of the park. Danny Armstrong started on the right-hand side of midfield, with Matty Kennedy on the left-hand side. Club captain Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins lead the line for Killie.

Prediction

  • Fifth meets fourth, as St Mirren and Kilmarnock go head-to-head in Paisley with both teams gearing up for European football.
  • Saints are on the verge of securing European football in Paisley for the first time since 1987, after a superb and dominating display at Dens Park where they dismantled Dundee who were their closest challengers for fifth. A win over Killie could cut the gap between the teams to three points, as Kilmarnock are currently six clear of Saints with three games to go including this weekend.
  • Kilmarnock could seal fourth spot in the Scottish Premiership table with a victory in Paisley, but a draw would keep the current gap to six points and - with two games to play after this weekend - Killie's superior goal difference would probably prove enough regardless of what happens when they host Celtic before travelling to Dundee on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season.
  • Saints are yet to beat Kilmarnock this season, after the two teams drew at Rugby Park back in September before Killie have beaten the Buddies home and away. If they leave Paisley with a point, that should all but mathematically secure fourth spot and leave Saints sat in fifth.
