Five straight defeats in all competitions will have concerned Newell's Old Boys heading into battle against River Plate but they held firm in a positive 0-0 draw.
With confidence low both on and off the field for Newell's, an ability to showcase defensive resilience was much needed - now they need to return to their progressive best in the forward line.
