Team News

Newcastle
Man City
  • Harvey Barnes was forced off through injury against Sheffield United on Sunday and could emerge as a doubt here.
  • Eddie Howe will remain without Joelinton, Joe Willock and Emil Krafth for this one.
  • Rodri's straight red card against Nottingham Forest on Saturday could hand a start to Kalvin Phillips in the City midfield.
  • Pep Guardiola will continue to do without Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones, while Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic will likely miss this one.

Prediction

  • Newcastle cruised to a record-breaking 8-0 victory against Sheffield United on Sunday, making it three clean sheets in a row for Eddie Howe's side.
  • Manchester City continued their perfect start with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, the reigning treble winners have won their last eight matches in a row.
  • The visitors have lost just one of their last 17 meetings with Newcastle in all competitions (won 13, drawn three), and are unbeaten in their last 10 - since a 2-1 loss in January 2019.
  • They have only lost three of their 30 League Cup games under Pep Guardiola (won 22, drawn five), and are expected to edge this one.

  • hello 22 fouls maybe mistake 24 fouls

  • @dof100 maybe maybe not

  • Newcastle very professional at the back, it's a solid team to be proud of. Bobb sucks and Alvarez plays better with Haaland. It shows when up against a tight block like today. I don't think City threw the game because they couldn't have won it if they wanted to anyhow. England shouldn't have an extra tournament anyway, that's just an abuse of players for the pursuit of money.

  • @tkr The competition was originally intended to filter greater money down to the lower leagues.

  • @tkr Nah, the League Cup is solid. It's the only thing that still distinguishes English football from all the rest in some way.

  • No surprises. Pep pretty much announced in the press conference that he plans to throw. No one takes this cup seriously

  • Are we back to this again? Managers not giving a toss about winning this competition?

  • Pep is moaning that his team must return by coach after failing to secure a flight back to Manchester resulting in a 142 mile journey.

  • Over 2.5 goals @ 1.85 Odds
